Year of Establishment : 1972

English department has been established in this college in 1972, since then it has made a tremendous progress. As the college was established in the rural area, the students coming to the college from the area nearby were weak in English subject, but the English teachers at the time took much effort to improve their knowledge in English subject and they fully succeeded in it. At the time of the establishment of the department only three English teachers were serving, but today there are nine English teachers to the department. Eight papers each to undergraduate and postgraduate level are being taught to the department. The department has started various courses such as spoken English course, Pragmatic English course etc. to improve the English knowledge of the students. Students English Literary Forum (SELF) has been established in the department to create confidence and stage daring among the students. SELF always organizes various activities such as Quiz Contests, Group Discussions, Debating, Seminars, and Workshops etc. English laboratory has been set up for the practice of better pronunciation of the students. We are very much proud of the department thet has provided the Principals to the colleges such as Prin. Dr. A. D. Kumbhar at Sadashivrao Mandlik College, Murgud and Prin. A. D. Muruskar at Radhanagari College, Radhanagari. Many Ex-students of the department are now serving as the Assistant Professors and Associate Professors in various colleges and many have got jobs in different fields. Taking into consideration the rat-race competition and growing globalization, the department has decided to start some new job oriented courses which will help the students in future.
